Madeline is ONE!

This is a little different than my usual posts, but this is a little of what I was up to during my summer painting block…

My Madeline turned ONE! How did that year go by so fast!? We wanted this baby so much and she came and brought so much joy to our family. She was a very easy baby and now she’s grown so much and is starting to walk and talk! She is the sweetest! So for her birthday I wanted to celebrate big and that turned into makes hundreds of pretty things with tissue paper.

I didn’t have a theme in mind for her birthday I just wanted flowers everywhere. I came across this tutorial for tissue paper flowers on Pinterest and LOVED it. I ended up making them slightly different and came up with some other flowers to go with them (tutorial below!)  I grouped the flowers on walls and even made a photo back drop. I also made a one piñata and covered it in tiny flowers! Yes, I went a little overboard. They are just so easy to make and look so pretty!

The other decorations were fun to put up in my home and enjoy the week before the party. I made a tissue tassel garland and hung it across the fireplace. I also printed out 50+ of my favorite photos of Madeline’s first year and hung them with small clothespins along twine.

I have an awesome friend that helped me with setting up the party and the food. And by helping with the food, I mean, she prepared the menu, sent me a shopping list, came over the day before and morning of to prep and put everything together! She is the BEST. We had very tasty sandwiches, salads, vegetable platter and the most delicious cakes! Look at that cake! Amazing!

We had the party at home so Madeline could crawl around with everyone. It was a really great day! Now to figure out what to do with all these tissue flowers…
